Advertisements that people make are meant to persuade the person to buy their product. That is the whole point of having advertisements on television every few minuets after watching an episode or two of your favorite show. However, not many people know how advertisers could convince a large amount of people everyday.
The secret that advertisers use to convince a large amount of people is that they use behavioral psychology. It's basically a study of each human's behavior. The psychology of advertisement is how the advertisement is made with the features that advertisers use just to get their audiences attention.
Advertisements had been around for a very long time in American history since American has become wealthy and have more technology to make the advertisements. A lot of ads back in the 19th century, specifically, were used to have images of people that are attractive or are considered cool. One of the examples of advertisement back then was the smoking ads. Note: I am no promoting smoking. This is just an example. People that make smoking advertisements would use attractive women or guys acting cool in the picture to convince people that that's the way to be cool.
According to American Advertising: A Brief History, advertisement in the 19th century have been created by putting advertisements everywhere from newspapers to magazines. Most of the ads are about medicine with exaggerated cures. The advertisements have a lot of bold colors to most likely grab the consumers' attention.
How does that happen? Why were people so convinced by a simple ad back then? How did the advertisers convinced the people in America by just using text and pictures? This topic would tell you about the strategies that advertisers, in modern area, use to convince people to buy one or more specific product.

I found it very interesting that most ads in the 19th century mostly included and medicine and exaggerated cures. I would also recommend that you should include specific quotes or statistics to back up your topic. It would help a lot in understanding your topic and your stance on it
